The Amazing Truth About the American Education SystemSchool Districts keep taking more of your money year after year after yearBut education never seems to get any betteror work as they have promisedor get any safer for your childrenThe solution to getting a better education is an innovative Private School for your childrenSafety is a key concern of parents and teachers. Remembering 1993 our first year in Sarasota, the local teacher's union number one bargaining point was increasing teacher safety on campus, more important than pay increases or anything else! When we moved from Indiana to the Ft. Myers, Florida area in 1981 we were quite surprised. Our oldest son was a freshman starting high school, our middle son was starting seventh grade, and our daughter was almost two years old. The first and most surprising item was that the high school had a resource officer. Not knowing what a resource officer is we had a different image of this person. What we found was that an armed deputy sheriff was the resource officer! Our daughter, the two year old, who will 30 in August, 2009 taught in an Orlando High School for two years until her apartment was vandalized on the outside by students, told me they had two very tall uniformed, armed officers in her school. Before you know it your daughter or son is out of school and nothing has really changed You wonder why your child isn't getting into a better college or getting a better jobWhat can we do to improve this situation nowYour children and their future are so important you can't wait another minute to start correcting this situation Together we can give your child the gift of time They can earn a high school diploma and a BS or BA degree in six years rather than the normal eight years or earn a career certificate from a vocational technical school and a high school diploma in 4 years rather than 5 or 6 years. Saving up to two years in high school or college, students can use the time and money saved to pursue special interests, start a career earlier or continue with other higher education. We are aware and very concerned about students who might need that extra year or two for subject mastery If there are methods to speed the school experience up without loss of understanding then those methods should be attempted. The goal should be to produce the most well educated person possible regardless of the time involved to accomplish that goal We may not save two years of school or a lot of money for thorough learners, but working together we can help make a lifetime of difference to your student. The quality and thoroughness of an education effects the rest of your child's life, so why not start with the best choices now? It is now up to youWhat does school hold for your children? Here is the situation facing your children. Most parents and students aren't even aware of the problems and possibilities in the current US education system at all levels. In the US we are training our students for jobs and careers that no longer exist as major career paths. Even jobs that were the key career areas a few years ago are now being done elsewhere. Very few careers are safe from outsourcing. These key jobs are being performed in third or fourth world countries for $400 or $500 per month or about a dollar an hour or less. Schools at all levels in the US train us to be compliant workers for whatever jobs are available So what is the schools answer to this fading career situation? Currently our governments, federal, state, county, and city combined spend about $15,468 on education per student per year (calculated from 2005-2006 Sarasota County Florida school budget). Almost without exception governmental school units are looking for more money every year, that apparently is their answer to the loss of opportunity for our students School districts do not use the same general accounting methods used by business concerns. A school district will report much less per student than a budget analysis will show due to their accounting methods. See published figures for Oklahoma school costs for 2003, when all costs were included Oklahoma was spending more than $11,250 per student in 2003! Yet, many of the students who come through the US education system after a taxpayer expenditure of $150,000 or more (for grades K through 12) are functionally illiterate. Many read at well below grade level a few not at all. If your student is excelling, then it is because your student is capable and highly motivated, has support from parents, grandparents, or other adults in their life and not that they went to a "great" school. There are many examples of students excelling despite their unfavorable home and school circumstances if you can attend a "great" school fine, but this opportunity does not exist for all students Many students, even those in the "best" schools lack interpersonal skills because they have been peer grouped for their whole school career. They are not exposed to various age groups, which force the development and use of the skills required to get along well with others. They have been socialized with the wrong group for successful personal growth. Many are only qualified for a job that requires minimal skills. No reading or math skills are required for many jobs. Businesses today use cash registers with pictures of what is being sold so reading is not required. These cash registers show selling price and change due to the customer automatically. Shopping at one of these businesses you realize that employers do not require much in the way of interpersonal skills either. Learning math, English and especially good interpersonal skills will give you a big edge over the competition in whatever career area you decide to pursue.
